Growing Pains? Make Better use of Limited Space with NxtWall Demountable Walls
There is a lot of talk about the post-pandemic “work from home movement” causing corporations to downsize and shrink in-office space worldwide. But that theory only looked at large corporations and neglected to take into account the ongoing growth of small-to-medium sized companies. According to the 2023 survey, conducted by Global Real Estate Consultants Knight Frank, the future of office space may take on a completely different composition. Small-to-medium sized companies are in fact growing and looking to add to existing space or make better use of current square footage to accommodate the growth.
NxtWall Case Study:
Animal Hospital of Rowlett Veterinary Clinic
The flexible nature of demountable walls is exactly what small-to-medium sized companies are looking for as they expand. Recently, Nxtwall finished a project with the Animal Hospital of Rowlett (AHR), a full-service small animal veterinary clinic in Rowlett, Texas, a suburb of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. New examination rooms were needed quickly due to an increase in customer demand which prompted the hiring of 2 new veterinarians. AHR was looking for a cost competitive solution that could be installed quickly without major disruption to the clinic’s busy schedule.
“While large multinationals are reducing office space, 55% of all surveyed companies expect to “increase or greatly increase” their footprints over the next three years, with growth led by smaller firms of up to 10,000 employees, according to the Knight Frank 2023 Survey.”†
“We accomplished creating TWO additional exam rooms for the dog side of the hospital and a cat lobby that further creates a noise barrier for the cat side. We were very pleased with the turnaround time and the price. We had new doctors coming on and needed more space quickly. The walls are stable and easy to clean. The construction was a minimal disruption to the business, and we were able to “brand” them to our practice by adding our own graphics. Will definitely keep the product in mind for future projects.”
–Kim Downes, DVM Animal Hospital of Rowlett
Kim Downes, the head veterinarian, wanted a flexible way to make good use of the unused portion of the large lobby and wanted a wall system that could be demounted and moved if the need should arise. NxtWall Architectural Walls offered the Animal Hospital of Rowlett the perfect solution. By using Flex angle post technology, NxtWall demountable walls could be placed at odd angles to fit non-linear walls to make the most of the existing space. By taking advantage of the unused space in the lobby, AHR was able to considerably increase the office layout and add new K-9 exam rooms. Demountable walls were also used to construct a new feline lobby to help make the customer experience more enjoyable.
“I enjoyed working on this project particularly because of the complex design that involved many angles. Due to the termination of the partitions into a non-90-degree wall, this project required extensive use of the NxtWall Flex Angle Post as an alternative to the typical Flex Square Post. By using the Angle Post, we were able to attach up to 3 angled partitions directly into the standard construction walls. Another section of this installation required a straight partition to run across a hallway with unparallel connecting points, again the NxtWall Flex Angle Post made this possible and simplified the installation.”
–Mitchell Sweet, NxtWall Designer/Sales
NxtWall designers listened to the customers’ needs and designed a layout that was unique to their situation. A single installation team was able to adjust the design on site because NxtWall Demountable Walls are field-fit and can accommodate variations in floor and wall measurements. Also, by using a single installation team, the project was finished in one week as opposed to dragging out for weeks if traditional construction methods had been used.
